What is World Events Sports? orld Events Sports is committed to creating an environment that is truly focused on kids having fun. Our leagues, camps and tournaments are about more than sports; they are about kids learning and loving to play sports. Each week at practice we will discuss healthy choices and encourage character development. There will be lots of playing time for your kids and sportsmanship will be demonstrated from both kids and parents. What sports do you offer?Flag Football, Basketball, T-Ball/Baseball What are the ages of kids that participate? We offer leagues for children as young as 3, all the way up to 14. Can my child play in a different age group than they actually are?We understand that some children may want to play with friends or siblings in a different age group. We allow children to play in a higher age group than they are as long as the parents understand this. Rarely do we allow children to play in a lower age group as this is not fair to the other, smaller children. We can deal with this on a case by case basis. How do I get my child registered and paid? Our website www.WorldEventsSports.com is the best and easiest way to get your child signed up. You can call the World Events Hotline (877-917-6056) and get registered as well, or stop by the office 4212 N. Pershing Ave., Ste. A-25 Stockton, CA 95207. We accept Visa, MasterCard, cash and check on the website and in the office as a form of payment. The only concern if paying with a check or cash is that payment must be received before the first game to guarantee a spot. What is included in the cost?In 6-8 week season, a uniform (for JrNBA/WNBA - an official jersey; for flag football - an official NFL jersey and a flag belts; for baseball – an MLB jersey and hat) and a medal and participation certificate at the end is included in the fee for our kids’ leagues. Referees are provided for certain age groups in both sports as well. What other equipment will my child need?Cleats are recommended for flag football, but not required. Mouthguards for flag football ARE REQUIRED. You can pick up a pair of cleats and mouthguards at Target, Wal-Mart, Sports Authority, etc… If your child does not have cleats, then we require tennis shoes. For flag football, we provide the jersey and a flag belt. Participants are highly encouraged to wear shorts WITHOUT POCKETS. (when grabbing for the flag belt, fingers can get caught in pockets and lead to injury) How will I know what team my child is on?We will send out placement e-mails to everyone before the league begins. (We use a great deal of e-mail, so we highly recommend having and using a valid e-mail address and making sure our email is not blocked by your spam program). In that placement e-mail, we will give you the name and contact information of the coach and the schedule for the season. After we send that e-mail, we let the coach take over and let them do the team organizing. Do the teams have practice?Yes, we schedule one (1) practice per week. Coaches can opt to increase the number of practices per week. For 4-6 year olds we have a 30 minute practice before the games. How can I (the parent / guardian) get involved? The parents can get involved by stepping up and acting as coach or assistant coach. We also are looking for a “Team Parent” who is willing to be responsible for coordinating snacks after the games, etc… Can my child be on a team with their friends? We try our best to accommodate all the requests that are given to us. If you want to list friends, neighbors, or school mates you want your kids to play with, we will do our best to see they are on the same team. How many kids are on a team and will my child get playing time?We try to limit rosters to 8-10 for basketball and flag football and 12-14 for T-Ball/Baseball. But teams we form always get requests for children to add on to a team that some friends play on. We deal with this on a case by case basis and due to this some teams may be larger. World Events Sports requires coaches to play all children equally and can address any situation where this might not be the case. What is the skill level of the kids? The skill levels of the kids vary. In the past, we’ve had beginners all the way to more experienced in all of the age groups. Where do I get my uniform from?We ask the Coach or Team Parent to stop by our office and pick up the uniforms so they can distribute them to the kids. What other kids activities do you have?We offer Spring and Fall leagues for Flag Football, Spring and Summer leagues for T-Ball/Basesball, and Winter and Summer leagues for Basketball. We also offer summer camps. We are always in the planning to add additional sports and events, so be on the lookout for more to come! What happens at the end of the season?World Events Sports likes to show their gratitude by providing hot dogs and water for everyone out there! We give medals to all of the kids on the last day of games. What if it is raining on game day?If there is a chance of inclement weather, we have set up a rain-out phone line for cancelation notification. That number is 877-917-6056 ext. 8 What if I don't register and pay by the deadline? We can do our best to accommodate any late registrations that come in. We cannot guarantee placement if you register after the deadline, but we do try to find a team for them. Is there any type of Financial Assistance available? There are a limited number of spots available each season but we believe that all children should have an opportunity to enjoy organized sports, regardless of financial status. How can I get your e-mails and news alerts?Go to our mailing list page to submit your name and email address and we'll mail you our quarterly newsletter and keep you up-to-date on events and leagues via email. |
